How can I weatherize my garage?
Most of us do more in our garages than merely park our cars, so it makes sense to take some steps to better insulate it from the extreme heat and cold.
Your garage door is a potential large source of heat loss. If you have an uninsulated metal garage door, it can transmit heat and cold into your garage and home. A garage door insulating kit can make a big difference and keep you warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. The kit comes with the insulating panels, fasteners, adhesive and everything you need. And only takes an hour to install.
Garage door weather stripping fills the gap around the edge of your garage door on the exterior side of the door. It keeps out drafts and is easy to install. The most common types of garage weather stripping have either a hard plastic or aluminum nailing strip with a soft, flexible vinyl or rubber piece attached to it. It’s designed to limit air flow into the garage while providing a flexible seal that allows the garage door to move up and down while the weather stripping maintains positive contact with the door.
